Tedburn Bell Ringers
Our bells at St Mary’s Church are a magnificent 6, sitting at the top of the tower. Huge bronze instruments that hang from a metal frame, as they have done for the past 300 years.
You have probably never thought about taking up bell ringing. You don’t know what you’re missing! Just look at the advantages
You will make new friends.
You get to see parts of historic buildings that the general public never see.
You can ring in all weathers and every day of the week if you wish to.
You have free use of thousands of pounds worth of equipment.
It keeps you fit as you have a ‘workout’ that would cost a fortune at the gym – and you do not have to be very strong.
When you are good enough, you can actually get paid for ringing.
You can ring anywhere in the world that has bells hung for change ringing.
One drawback is that you usually work up a thirst.
Churches are usually close to a pub with a ‘ringer friendly’ landlord.
You’ll be keeping alive a tradition that has been going for hundreds of years.
We meet at 7.30pm on Tuesday evenings at the Church. You would be made very welcome. Come and see what we do, and even have a go.
We look forward to seeing you.
