TEDBURN ST MARY – SPEEDWATCHERS
Tedburn St Mary Parish Council is working towards setting up a Community Speedwatch Group. This is part of a national initiative run in partnership with the Police whereby members of communities use detection devices to monitor vehicle speeds.
The Speedwatch team will be offered training and speed monitors and when qualified will report drivers exceeding the speed limit to the Police. The time commitment would be a few hours a month.
This evidence is used by the Police of persistent speeding to bring a prosecution if required. If there is a persistent general speeding issue then highways improvements may also be considered.
The Parish Council has received many requests for this to be set up but cannot operate manned by councillors alone, so we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help.
We hope this will not only make our village safer but also improve the quality of life for all of us in our community.
