We Are Looking For a New Parish Councillor to Join the Tedburn Saint Mary Team

We are looking for a new councillor to join the team.

Parish councils are the first rung of government and the authority closest to the communities they represent. Initially, you do not need to commit to anything. If you are interested please call the parish clerk who will be able to answer any questions you may have or arrange for you to talk directly to a councillor if you prefer. The council meets on the first Monday of every month and comprises ten councillors; including the Chair. New councillors are given advice and training to equip them for the challenge with ongoing updates and further support as you develop into the role. The council is a supportive group and you will be joining an enthusiastic and knowledgeable team whose sole aim is to maintain and enhance the village and its environment and to care for its residents in as many ways it can. Time commitment will be entirely at your discretion but a commitment to attend as many meetings as possible is desirable.

The council raises money in various ways to support its activities with income from the District Council (collected as a small portion of council tax), donations, fund raisers and grants. This enables the parish council to identify projects and get the necessary financial support to see its work through.

Today the village faces changes and challenges with the possibility of a new housing development. The council is also being asked to comment on climate change projects and to support biodiversity. So, interesting times ahead and you would be joining a team that can make a difference.
